Choir singers from Wisconsin surprised locals of Peadar O’Donnell’s in Derry with their beautiful rendition of The Parting Glass.
Locals of one of Derry City’s best-known bars were enjoying the regular Thursday night live session last week when singers from the University of Wisconsin Eau-Claire Women’s Concert Chorale interrupted it with a spontaneous rendition of ‘The Parting Glass’.
Customers were stunned by the beautiful performance, and it wasn’t long before almost every camera phone in the house was recording the ladies sing the traditional Scottish song, famously sung by Irish musicians like the Clancy Brothers, Sinéad O’Connor, The Pogues and Cara Dillon.
A big thanks to staff of Peadar O’Donnell’s bar in Derry for kindly sending us the footage.
